James Daughtery WMA
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:38:19 AM »
My kids got drawn for a youth hunt on the James Daughtery WMA and I was wondering if anyone has hunted there and what it was like.

Thanks in advance.

Never hunted there but if TPWD drew him it should be a good hunt. Have been in the area rabbit hunting but not on that particular WMA. The Texas Public Draw hunts are good hunts. Good luck!

Thanks Mohawk.  We've been on a few of the TXPWD hunts and always had a good hunt.  Both kids got drawn so this will be a first with my son and daughter on the hunt together.  This should be interesting...

I've put in for the James Daughtery WMA a few times but was never lucky enough to get drawn.  The hunt ought to be a great experience of your kids.   With only one exception, over the past 41 years, all the TP&WD personel have been great!  They have always gone out of their way to make the hunt a memoriable one.

Well we went on the hunt and the kids had a good time.  The deer weren't really moving due to the heat but the pigs were around my son's location.  He did some nice shooting, 4 shots 3 pigs, not bad at all with an Encore  ;D

Enjoy the pic:
