Is now a good time for pond fishing

Got an offer to help remove some channel cat from a coworkers 1 acre pond.  They seined a neighbors pound a couple years ago and put in 60 3 to 5 pounders.  Now, they think it is to much and they want some taken out.  I've never fished in the fall or winter.  Is it a decent time.  Any differences in how you'd go about it this time of year (shrimp, livers, worms, etc) or should I just wait until spring.

Kinda depends on where you are I'd guess. Here in the deep south catfishing is still going strong. I must admit tho only two were caught from my pond on Monday when we had a family fishing outing and fish fry following. I think that was because there were so many folks there and so many kids running and having fun and making noise but am not sure. The day before they were prowling like crazy when I was down looking so they are definitely still active here.

Just use a proper bait and technique and you should do well unless you are where things have already begun freezing.

I'm just about 13 miles south of Cincinnati, OH.  I catch channels from ponds all year round.  Some of my best fishing has been in December, during the holidays.  It's just like any other fishing...  conditions dictate the proper presentation and time to fish.  I almost always fish on the bottom, regardless of the time of year.  That's just me though.  I hate messing with floats/bobbers. 

You'll be surprised at the action you can have this late in the year.  Obviously, the pond you're fishing doesn't freeze solid in the winter, so that's always a plus.
