New lure
« on: November 14, 2009, 04:23:18 PM »
I was sort of messing around in the barn the other day after the skinning was done and mixed togather some sun rendered fish juice, pressed fish oil, mink glands and muskrat glands. took it out yesterday and made two high bank dirt hole set figuring i was going to catch a coon. Ran the traps this morning and had two mink. Not sure if it was a food lure catch, territorial catch or curiosity catch. Maybe I'm over thinking it, but it don't matter, I caught two mink. LOL

Worm:
Anything with Muskrat musk in it is going to get a mink's attention.  Sound like a good mink lure formula.

Tried it on the little hocking the other day, but they opened the flood gates and put all my pocket sets under water. I'm going to make a few more high bank sets and see what sort of reaction I get down there. The only thing I'm worried about is an otter maybe sticking its nose where it shouldn't be. Got another month before they come in season down here.
