Contender Sight Information
« on: May 11, 2003, 05:52:18 AM »
Sometime back someone posted a very comprehensive chart with factory Contender sight information as used by TC. Barrel length, caliber. front blade heigth and width, rear notch width, rear blade size. I saved it but did not print to paper. You quessed it, I lost it. Would someone still have it and be so kind as to repost it.

Thanks,
JD

The barrel I am trying to find sight dimensions for is a 14" stainless 22 LR Match. Picked up a used one and with rear sight down as far as it will go it still shoots 5" high at 25yds. I see in the classifieds Contendernut has sights for a S-14 22LR match. I'm going to ask if he will measure for us.

Thanks

JD,

The barrel and sights are in my shop.  I'll measure it in the morning and get back to you with the measurements.

JD,

The way I see it, acording to my barrel's sights, the front needs to be the same distance from the top of the barrel as the top of the rear sight.  You may be able to center your rear sight and measure this distance.  Then subtract that amount from the front base to see how high the blade needs to be above the front sight base.

Gary,
That's what I was thinking also after looking at your numbers. The front sight is the correct one, but someone has gotten the wrong rear sight on this barrel somewhere in its life.

Thanks,

JD

Not to dredge up a really old topic or anything  ;), but searching throughout the forum I couldn't find ANY specific source for replacement front blades for Contenders...

...If I have to just find a piece of steel the same width and fabricate one from scratch, I suppose I can, but surely someone sells them?

My ultimate goal is a fiberoptic front sight, but even a plain steel one would work; I can always drill through it, cut a notch or two in the top to let light down to the fiber, and go with that (I've done it on a couple other 'blade' type front sights).

So - any SOURCES for the front sight?
