Anyone know if Ruger plans on implementing the reverse indexing pawl feature on other models?
So far, the New Vaquero's, the 357 anniversary, and 44 special have it. Not sure if the 44 mag anniversary has it too.
This is such a simple feature that adds much to the ease of unloading the single-actions. For folks who don't like it, the process of removing it to create a free-spin cylinder is easy to implement too.
My biggest beef with the Blackhawks, and why I don't buy them, is the way the cylinder half-stops and clicks when unloading. From the first time I handled one, it was a turn-off. So far, I own a 357 New Vaquero and the 44 Special. They're Grrrrrrreat !
Second biggest beef has been the warning labels splattered all over the barrels. Again, Ruger is listening with the New Vaquero's and 44 Special which have them on the bottom out of sight. It makes for a classy-looking single action when done this way.
For someone who hunts with them, or just regards them as a tool, then it's probably not a big deal. But for someone who target shoots all day at the range or collects fine-looking firearms, then features like these mean much more.
My eye is on the Bisley in 44 mag, but warning labels and cylinder indexing where turn-offs when I handled one last. USFA has gotten my attention really quick with their revolvers, but I prefer Ruger's for the transfer bar safety feature; and I just like Ruger and their support in general.
