Son's First Deer
« on: November 30, 2009, 07:29:22 AM »
I had the pleasure Friday night to support and watch my son shoot his first deer.  At 170 yards, the doe dropped in her tracks shot through the spine above the shoulders.  Devastating bullet placement.

Fifteen minutes later, under failing O'Dark+30 light and with the remaining adrenalin jitters, he shot at and nicked in the foreshoulder a buck (his first - almost), a 6-point, that had we been successful in recovering over the next three hours of tracking would have been Dad's Pride but, for me, still is a crowning victory of Land Management on a very small parcel.

I know he was not as proud as you were!  ;)
