12ga. USH
« on: December 01, 2009, 03:27:59 AM »
I have a 12ga. USH with a 1.5-4.5 BSA scope on it. Also five or six boxes of three different brands of sabot slugs. Bought this to hunt deer with and never used it. Don't hunt deer anymore. A friend of mine offered me $300 for it. I guess my question is what is it worth. :-\

Sell it!

I just picked this one up for $100....unfired. 8)

Put a Leupold 3x9x33 Ultra-Lite scope on it and shot some 2.75 Lightfields thru it yesterday. I'm a pretty happy camper... ;D

Take the money and run and I hope he's not a good friend. I just bought one, unfired and rechambered to 3.5, for $215.00. Had I decided to not have it rechambered, $200.00.

Thanks for the replys guys. Sure is funny no one has considered the 50 or 60 dollars worth of ammo that goes with it.  ???.   Don't know where you folks find deals like that. None to be had in this area. The local dealers are getting $240 for the Tracker 11. Add a scope and five boxes of ammo and sales tax i wonder what that would come to price wise. Thanks. I will take the $300 and run. ;D

Mine was purchased from a guy who purchased it in '99,,,and never used it. Sat in his safe until he offered it. Said he was getting rid of stuff he'd never use. He named the price...not me.  ;)

If you take Bud's price. Add the dealers fee. Which is $35 here. Add a scope and five boxes of ammo. Doesn't that come to over $400? ???.  Guess as was suggested. I will take the $300 and run. ;D.

I would do just that...$300 for the gun and scope are about all that you could probably get on an auction site as well.  Do not take offense to this but BSA scopes do not fetch a premium and would probably be swapped out anyway.  The 5-6 boxes of ammo are certainly worth $50 or more depending on the brands.  Seems almost any brand of sabot slugs are around $10 or more per box anyway.

Think about it this way, if you just let it sit in your safe, you aren't getting any enjoyment out of it...Take that $300 and spend it on something that you will enjoy...Don't worry about the nickels and dimes.

BTW...I know it sounded like it after re-reading my post but I am not a scope snob.  I own a BSA red dot site and have it mounted on my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter.  It has served me well for 4 seasons but I am considering upgrading to an Ultradot site...

Are the USH barrels alot bigger in diameter than the regular rifled barrels?  My oldest daughters boyfriend, :( >:( ,showed me a chopped one last night that looked like the barrel came off a cannon!  The idio, I mean nice young man said he was gonna use it for his bedroom gun :o.  Advised him not to do so as the slugs he got with it would go thru his walls and the neighbors as well.  I THINK he listened to that remark, would be the first time he has but it seemed to turn on the light bulb in his head.  DP

I think I read somewhere that the USH barrels are 10GA blanks bored out to 12GA specs....All I know that mine always seem too heavy when the hunting season starts but after a few days, it feels just right.
