As long as the bills are paid, and you have a little cash set aside for suprises don't get too guilted up.

Women like to see a list, and have a calender of upcoming events. Get yourself a calender and start writing down things like gun purchases and hunting or fishing trips. Space them out at reasonable intervals, throw in kids games etc. Then when the inevitable purchase confrontation comes up the answer is... hey it's been on the calender for weeks, don't you look at it?

The other key here is not to be a self centered turd either. Your wife has dreams too and if you are neglecting those you will be in for a lousy ride to the court house one day.

She may not understand that guns are tools. While everything is a hammer a hammer isn't everything. Same thing for 12ga. and 30-06 and 357 mag and 9mm and .22 and AR15 and 45-70, you get the idea. You can deer hunt with 9mm same as you can roof your house with a blacksmiths hammer, but nobody does it on purpose.

I'm gonna guess you have your head on straight, and my admonissions are not needed.

Swampman
I got intrested in colored gemstone over 30 years ago.  I found myself a mentor and learned for the next 20 years.  I have a wife that shares that intrest and over the years we have found and I have made some truly outstanding items.  We went to tucson and Quartsite shows for years buying stones, metal and equipment for retirement.  We retired in 2002 and I had enough machinery to open two lapidary shops and all converted to diamond polishers.  I also had enough precious stone and metal to force us to rent 3 largest safety deposit boxes in the bank.  We started taking off and enjoying day trips all over the place and realised 2 years gone and no lapidary/jewelry shop.  We called Habitat for Humanity and donated all the equipment it took eight years to find and rebuild.  Went down to local college and told trusted instructor when it would show up for a promising student.  Then we cleared out and sold all but investment grade stones and precious metal from bank box.  We are still taking day trips 8 years later and the precious metal has not had to be tapped yet for support.  If market holds on stone and metal our kids should do well.  This has been a shared intrest and a good one.  She likes Hummels and jewelery, I like firearms, and good steel.  But we both listen to the other and make the effort to understand, that's why we are still married.  Best thing that ever happened was the first year we were married she took away my checkbook and started handling bills.  When we got married I always had money in my pocket, now we have money in the bank.  As far as the lapidary equipment, we have had a pretty good life, we both decided not to sell it.  It was time to give a little bit back.

empty quiver, no kids here, no emaciated children being fed gunpowder and being put in a fighting cage to win me some gun funding... no neglect.  all we've got is a puppy and he's pampered..

Last time the wife said anything about me buying a gun, I opened the vault and started counting.  Her pistols out number mine three to one.  She no longer says a word.

By the way, I found stuff in there I never knew she had bought.  One Lady Smith, and two Ruger 101s, all revolvers.

I got mine shooting a .357 magnum lately... it's the only one she likes.  I don't know why she'd like H-110 loads and complain about everything else having recoil (9mm Luger, 38 Special, .45 ACP) but whatever.... women are fickle.  They complain about their feet hurting too but wear heels  ???  Glad to hear your wife has "the bug" too.  Ever borrow her loot?  I would shamelessly.

Yea, she has a little Taurus Mallinium in 9mm that I grab quite often.  It's easier to conceal than my Ruger P-85.

I used to carry a cz-75, then I went to a slimmer 1911, then kahr cw9, now taurus 851... I can move like a normal person again

I could just learn some fancy stuff and use throwing stars but I hear being a ninja takes a lot of practice... I think I'll stick with the snub.  even in the cold I just keep the snub on me now.  unless we walk the dog at the skate park where all the tweakers hang out...

Squib, you'll definitely want to check out the Kung Fu Hillbilly training tape found on You Tube. I'm sorry but the Web Fu is weak and I can't link nuttin', I need to find a ten year old to show me how to do stuff on the inner webs. The information may well prove to be life saving, especially the short training seminar on the Ningy Star.

I know the feeling... I'm able to access emails and do installation of programs... that's about it.  ninjas.... man even if I did know and practice those skills I'd still be a gun-nut.  I'm pretty sure Stephanie understands that.  you know what speaking of ninjas, check myspace.com/benjutsu

you might see pictures of honey bears using guns?  probably not any ninjas though

If he throws in a "Pookie" or "Snookums" that would pretty much do it for me.

and everytime I see your profile pic I lose respect for you, I have a joker poster in this room and you're not doing heath any justice!  show his last work some respect!!!!!   ;D  on a serious note, I'm a spender not a saver, and I was quicker to the draw than most guys when it came to dumping a woman, well I was till I got her- so don't think she's whippin' on me, I'm fine (the keloid scars are healing up ever so slowly).  I've never been one to take bs, especially not in my house.  She's worth keeping around (indefinitely) and just wants me to NOT blow all my money after the bills are paid every month (EVERY).

the thread is dead, i got my gun and no bs with it.... but if you guys wanna keep checking in on my nerdy life, I'll be here.....
it's called a honeybear cave myronman!  :D

speaking of checking in, I'll be modifying my handi some the next few days to tame the recoil.  I just tried to sight it in yesterday but the wind was nasty (it was 20ish degrees not factoring windchill) so I got to see that it works and the side to side is good but the elevation needs to come up a bit....  if I can get a good weather day soon I'll go back out to regulate the sight further... probably with a new recoil pad and a bag full of birdshot in the stock

yup,  didnt see that coming at all... right to rip'n oin the profile picture.   it has been awhile since some no-imagination-having, un-original, lack-luster, esmasculated, small-minded, newby has made a crack about the old profile picture.  next time you want to take a shot, at least put some thought into it.    :-*

ooooh!  it's just a cyber-dis, calm down...  no-no, "why so serious?"

that was my favorite part of the movie.  I'm gonna take that gun shooting tomorrow (I weighted it up some) so I'll post some pics if that happens (weather permitting) and some of Steph shooting too (assuming she'll try the 45-70, probably not)
