a look at the viet congs war..read this please
« on: November 29, 2009, 05:22:19 AM »
they faced tactical superiority in most areas.. yet pol pot had so inspired them that they did what ever it took to out last a superior force ,,with less dedication..
this kinda reminds me of thirteen little colonies that went up against the then most powerful nation in the
world..with gurrilla tactics.. the out fought an out lasted them..
the writers of the constitution knew to well of what the future could hold.. hence they put in the 2nd ammendment..
of course we like the romans before us went through just too many golden years to be aware that our very cherished freedom ,,might one day depend on our ability to shoot strait an long..
the writer of the constitution were thinking of a people who had lost brothers ,fathers and sons in the fight for freedom in this country.. they probably never invisioned a people so dedicated to thier easy chair that thier worst annoyance was where is the remote so they didn t have to leave that chair.
not meant to condem anyone,as its humane nature to lose sight of whats important ,in a country where
the biggest decision for years was whether to buy a new car every year..
these thoughts came to me as i watched an rating of the military supererior sniper rifles.. in vietnam we faced an unflinching enemy ,,inspired by pol pot to pay the ultimate price if necessary for what they believed..
that dedication over came,an outlasted tactical superiority..i detest what pol pot stood for ..but have to admire his dedication an ability to inspire his fighter with the same.the time has come i believe for a heart check on the part of any citizen in this country ..who cherishes freedom..slim
ps vote is our first option.. combat,an dedication to freedom enough to not only leave our easy chair ,but pay the ultimate price,, is our last ..its reality gut check time here an now in this country. without we do this ,,don t claim to love your children an grand children..these are just hollow statements ,,if you arn t willing to walk the freedom walk instead of just talk it..harsh words meant to wake us up..how i long for an unifying organization of freedom believers with the arms an heart to save freedom as she hangs by a thread..

smart not to answer this post..the ones that watch these post for obama,,will find an old shaky handed
has been when they knock at my door.. they ll probably laugh all the way back to the house or where ever his people live.. caves mabe..if they take me they will just be dealing with an old dead or close to it  man..heck id probably have another heart attack if they fired a pistol or something..do yall think they might torture old farts..
id givum all i know with out that..i still know to come to the supper table..anything else would be pure conjecture on my part..this is christmas day aint it..seen a tree in town yesterday or sometime in the past..might be jumpin the gun on christmas as that tree may have been there last year.. slim
ps merry christmas ..if it is christmas..

convential vs gurrilla warfare  the convential forces must win to have a victory all the gurrilla has to do is not loose and they win. Hit and run is not loosing a battle it is doing harm to a supply line or a outfit with no intention of winning just wearing down the enemy and destroying moral we are a front line toe to toe fighting outfit and have no idea how to win on their terms. The indians were defeated only by destroying their food source (the buffalo) and rounding them up and disarming then on reservations. You cannot allow the enemy to live normally in the day and attack you at their leisure.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

I think inspiration may have helped them. Speaking of doing "whatever it took to out last a superior force," I feel the biggy for them was their tunnels - the miles and miles and miles of underground tunnels that housed hospitals, barracks, armories, supplies, etc. Please, any Vietnam Vet, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't our forces in Vietnam for many years before we even realized that the tunnels existed? They would set up a massive ambush on our troops and when we tried to retaliate, they would simply vanish back into their underground tunnels. It would seem nearly impossible to fight effectively against an enemy that suddenly no longer existed. Inspiration and their superior guerrilla warfare tactics is in my opinion what kept them in the fight for so long. Good post Slim.

i was shot while resting by an nva that raised up a cover to a tunnel at a distance of 25 yards. we never knew they were there until the shooting started.

in a heads up fight they lost every one it was the hit and run and fade out sight tactics that they used to the utmost advantage.

bottom line of why we left with our tail betwen our legs was that "we' did not have the will to fight to win. not mentioning the fact they thought in terms of "no matter how long it takes' and we in terms of victory in 6 months.

so when obama comes out and gives his little speech tuesday you will see right fast if he talks of withdrawal or out in 1 year terms that he does not have the will to fight.

Slim.  Saloth Sar, Minh Hai or Pol Pot (all the same) was a Cambodian communist leader and responsible for the atrocities committed in Cambodia.  The person responsible for inspiring the Viet Cong was Ho Chi Minh.

I did my time in Nam, and attribute our loss to the fact that they had something to fight for; we were there simply because Kennedy/Johnson wanted us to be there.  Most of us thought it was a noble cause at the time, but had no real motivation to win.

old ho chi was a reliable ally in WWII and then we double crossed him and he made an ardent enemy. he thought in terms of 20-30 years americans have shown over and over again that 5 years tops is our will.

I'll look for a copy of that book and while reading it, I'll be thinking about your first hand experience with the tunnels.

I was shot while resting by an nva that raised up a cover to a tunnel at a distance of 25 yards. We never knew they were there until the shooting started.

Not much of an offering to you guys after all you had to go through, but Thanks Redtail, Rockbilly, Beerbelly, and all the rest of our Vietnam Vets for your service to the U.S.A.

i can not wait to see how obama lays out his "well thought out stratagy" i bet it will be a good one.....

if he plays it to the lefts desire he will be seen for what he is ..a weak sister. if he tries to convince the right that hes willing to commit more troops and fight..the lefties will riot.

not to mention that people like me just simply will not believe he is committed to fight no matter what he does?

i was not shot where the tunnels of chu chi are. yet i was involved in a tunnel complex small by comparision but a very deadly little world never the less...

they built those in chu chi over a 20-30 year period, started right after WWII, had hospitals living quarters armories..small cities underground an amazing feat when you look at it. thosands upon thousands of soldiers and equipment underground.

YEP. Jane fonda and kerry were huge allies of the vc too. Those scum cost American lives and gave hope to the vc to keep fighting. A retired vc general said in his book that they were beaten and ready to give up, then fonda and kerry started their whining and gave them hope and they fought on. Jane fonda was slipped a note from an American prisoner, she turned it over to the enemy. All the demonstraters did back then was  help the enemy, same as today. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Ho destroyed the french foreign legion and when they left the U.S. Brits and French decided how the country was to be divided and the south ran , Note the WINNER was not invited to the party.Ho came to the U.S. and asked our help in reuniting HIS country and was ignored (Henry cabot lodge is the man you can thank for that fiasco) He went to Mao who's only question was "what do you need"
Ho was not communist he was committed to the idea of having a free Viet Nam with no foreign rulers.

yep ..all it really takes is commited people..willing to pay the price..
i would say grey beard would know if there was that kinda commitment here in this country.. i remember him saying ,,there was no such group of so commited people here this country..so if we don t want freedom bad enough .. we surely will lose it ..unless the creator deems otherwise.. this is my prayer every night..i couldn t do much at my age ,,,with shaky hands and an very sick wife.. but i promise you if i knew of such a group of so commited men an women i would really support these supporters of the constitution with my all..but i see people with thier heads in the sand,, like my minister whos comment was don t worry about it tony the nra will make sure everything goes well for gun owners.. don t worry..no need to worry ..
i don t have such an organization to join at a hands on level..so i ll just get rid of my guns ..we as individuals don t have a chance.. at least thats how it looks to me.. to my absolute disappointment an sorrow.. slim
ps i might add that i blame not only myself ,,but every gun owner in america .. we ll get what we earn..
now show me im wrong an walk the walk.. give an discouraged old man hope for his grandkids... ive already enjoyed a life of freedom..

The troops that volunteered as “Tunnel Rats” in Nam are to be commended for their outstanding contribution to our efforts.  Sometimes I wonder, “Were these guys crazy, adventure seekers or just brave beyond the point of valuing their life.

Yes, they, and the military working dogs did a great job, and are responsible for saving the lives of many Americans and friendly forces.

Gentlemen, I salute you! ;) ;)

i have a friend in Amarillo Texas that was indeed a tunnel rat in nam. i met him here in the staes about 15 years ago. he gave me the book on the tunnels. i will have to say it takes a special breed of cat to do that work and he has to have a set of very very big uns to do that work. the funny deal is you would never think of him as the type.

he had to have a lota guts to say the least.

so you guys give me some guidance ..where can i go an join the organised group devoted to the 2nd..
im nra but they arn t adequate in my opinion..yea i just chickened out..i choose peace in a totally controled society over freedon an the right to fight for it. yep guess thats where i am..
of course ive never been a fighter choosing instead to remain safe in my easy chair..
for those interested in my guns don t pm me anymore as they are gone. yep just got my money out ofem.. bought me a real nice sling shot..if you are braver than i.. show me your method of resistance.. not here but by phone ..look it up.. anthony marks new london n. c.... speak so i can read between the words of your communication.. big brothers listening all the time ,,if he chooses to..slim
ps my original post was about dedication an what it can do..ive no interest in who was the best communist but who understands whats at stake in this country.. some here know where i stand an the truth about the kinda man i am..
ive even been chastised rightly so by the greybearded man him self,,because i tried to do things best suited for young able bodied men..so don t accuse me of being unpatriotic or chicken.. or you will get your but kicked .. if you do it to my face.. we ll just go to the woods[-away from the law officers,, an let it turn out the way it will.
doing it here on forum,, takes just loads of courage huh..but in front of me ..you won t do it or you pay the price..
after i whip you or you me .. mabe we will be riled enough to start a organization aimed at the real enemy..i ll look forward to meeting you..
now id rather be fighting civily with my vote ,or otherwise for my countries freedoms,, by your side ,i might add.... slim
