Yesterday, Jack Elam passed away.  Between him and Lee Van Cleef, it would be hard to say who was my favorite villian.  Mr. Elam also had the distinction of being a fine comedic actor in his later days.  I am not sure of his background, but I know he was born in Arizona in the 20s, so he probably was one of the last cowboy/western actors left.  Sad day for western fans.

I, too, will miss him - he had a "wild" look to him that no one else could duplicate.........

I heard the story told once that he was accountant for a movie company. They were going under or had already gone broke, I forget. They were wanting to make another western. Being in the money game he came to them and told them if they would put him in the movie he would find the backing. He went to some contacts, got the money and got in the movie.
