Congrats!! A nice hunting handload is Lil'gun and the 250gr Speer GDHP using Hodgdon Ruger/TC data for the 250gr XTP, loaded to 1.673" which is .010" off the lands in mine, they'll clock at a little over 1900fps from the 20" barrel.  The 250gr Hornady SST does about the same velocity with the same load, just a longer COL, ~1.9". ;)

Nice guns in the pic. What are they 38-55, 45-70, and 45LC?

Congrats. Mine is new as well and my first handload is a Rainier 200 grain plated SWC (.45acp bullet) over 5.9 grains of Trail Boss. Starline brass and Winchester WLP primers.
After 80 rounds the bore is still very clean and the load is accurate. Very pleased so far. I added an old Williams peep rear sight and a Lyman #20 front globe. (non of the Lyman 17 series was the right height)

Hornady 250 grain XTP over 9.8 grains of Unique and CCI LP primer works well for me. That load is from the Ruger-T/C only section of the Lyman manual.
