We buried our asst pastor today. A VN vet, wounded 2x. The last he was in pretty bad shape, the family was told he would not live, he did. He had tremors in both hands and stomach trouble ever since then. He died in the hospitol at 79 years old. He dedicated his life to the Lords work. A nurse said she went in his room Sat and saw he was praying, so she took his hand and prayed with him. When he was through with his prayer he closed his eyes and just stopped breathing. Weather here is cold, we've had 60+ mph winds today. At the cemetary Ft Knox sent a couple of soldiers. After one blew taps they removed the flag and carefully folded it, after folded it was turned around numerous times and tucked in the right spots. Apparently they were not satisfied with it cause they unfolded it and repeated the process, turning and gently tucking until they deemed it appropriate to present to the widow. Afterward they stood outside in the freezing cold without jackets or hats, seemingly unaware of the cold. They stood straight and tall and proud to serve as soldiers in the American military. Bro Allen had a grandaughter in the service too, she drove up from Ft Bragg, she too stood straight and proud and all were well disciplined. They made me proud to be an American, and I told them so. I couldn't help but think of a few panty wetters here who tear down our military and whine about the job they do. Shame on ya if the shoe fits. Brother Allen will be greatly missed. POWDERMAN.

If an individual is regularly involved in any of the above mentioned sins; murder, rape, pedophilia etc., do you still welcome him/her into full fellowship of your church ?

I wouldn't but remember the church has nothing to do with people going to heaven. It's a place for Christians to fellowship and support one another. Personally I don't believe there will be many preachers in heaven. They lead people away from Christ by teaching false doctrine.

144,000 are supposed to survive the rapture.... so that plus how ever many actually got to heaven prior to judgement day

I doubt it's many people at all, less than a million. lets also remember that jesus own people sold him out during his life on earth, so I doubt a lot of preachers will make the cut, let alone the rest of us. I'm with swampy, go to church to better yourself, not to "GET IN".

it's strange isn't it? jews that didn't acknowledge jesus' greatness- get saved? maybe because they don't worship him the same- maybe they aren't fooled by false teaching in the name of jesus- can't be lead into sin the same way?

I hope I can slip into the line going to the escalator- don't care much about what a book says. I'll keep going trying to decipher the MEANING of the teachings and not the written words. Words are just symbols to convey a message, what is the message? I think I'll get farther attempting to understand that aspect of the christian religion.

I believe God has revealed to me all I need to know. I know he talks to me on a regular basis. If I make it that's ok. If I don't then I'll still love the one that died for me. Right now I'm just trying to help my brothers & sisters whose lives have been destroyed by religion and preachers. You wouldn't believe what I (and they) have been through.

I'm not gonna get into your personal stuff but let me say that although we don't always get along I do wish you the best. I prefer people with opinions to sheep... I really hate sheep. Religion is regimentation of faith, and while that structure can give purpose and structure to one's life, it can also corrupt the faith which defeats the purpose. Trust the message, not the book.

I'm not a religious guy by most standards, not even that strong in faith, and it really bothers me to see trees and red suits lately. kind of like the easter bunny during a holiday that's actually about thanks to the earth/farm and jesus' resurrection- most kids just want a basket with candy eggs? thank the earth for a good harvest and thank jesus for having a chance in the world!

so any opinion on the sell-out of christmas or easter? seems you always have some smarta** thing to say powderman- preach about jesus and muslim hating and then go on some hateful tangent. you make a great christian example.... I want to be just like you. the way you talked about your pastor's passing and then went on about how people are traitors and such, WHY? can you ever say anything without injecting hate and prejudice? can you not be a hateful burden on every post? can you ever stay on topic or do you start up a thread with enough validity to get someone to start reading so you can poison them with the next sentence? high-five to you, you're the man.

Powderman, you attack all that is "foreign" to you, but you don't preach anything that is good or holy about christianity or america- you just point fingers. You cannot win any converts by bad-mouthing anyone/thing you don't like. You gotta mix it up a bit. I like to complain and criticize too but I'm not dwelling on the negative 24/7.
