custom mossberg 802 varmint plinster squirrel rifle
« on: January 17, 2010, 05:12:11 PM »
bought this at gander for $20 off on clearance . it was brand new and i was looking at an old marlin bolt action but it was in sad shape and cost $40 more than the mossberg .it is a fairly nice gun , bull barrel with open sight (one of the reasons i bought it ) and has good metal finish . the stock did not fit the action real well so after a bit oh shooting to make sure every thing was in order i proceed to void the warranty . i beaded the action with devcon plastic steel  and the first 3/4 inch of barrel .

i have polished the trigger components the best i could and its not to bad , good hunting trigger pull of 5 guesstimated pounds . i reshaped the for-end and refinished the stock with tru oil . i also installed a larger bolt knob .  i got a nice allen adjustable 1 1/4 shooting sling and installed it . It shoot moa of squirrel head offhand with the sling or leaning on a tree .

the scope is a old japanese manufacture 4x32 tasco with wide view GR rings . very clear scope ,easily the best tasco i have ever looked though .oh yeah i also cut the mag down to fit flush .

oh sorry for including my ulgy mug in the pic .... :)
