CHRISTmas gift (binocular)
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:23:32 AM »
It was just last Sunday that the Wife & I were able to get everyone together for Christmas.

I came away with a set of the Nikon compact binoculars in the 10x25 and they are the RealTree model. Been using them for a few days now and they are clear n bright and focus well.

They are far from top of the line (about $70) and worthy of posting about because they do not hurt my eyes after 10 or more min like my old compact set (around $19) do.
The Nikon is a very good value for the low end price. If you were to shop online, some site's have them for around $55 (if that site can be trusted) while other sites like amazon have them for about $70

Good review.
I have had a pair of the Nikon 9X25 compacts for years.
I think I paid about $100 for them and in Cabela's the compact units you said are about the same $100 to 125.00
Only thing I can add to your post is do not leave them in your trucks glove box.  Mine have gone cock eyed.  Still clear but just out of register to see two images.  Like looking through an old dial range finder.  I contacted Nikon and it would cost about $70 to have them realigned so I just use them with one eye.

I recently put up a post about the 8x travelites. For a cheap set of binos to have in my coat pocket while hunting, I think they are pretty nice. Glass is clear and they will fit in the front pocket of my overalls. I got them on e-bay for 35 bucks shipped.
