I just picked up an antique ......
« on: November 23, 2009, 10:46:00 PM »
 Hi all !!!! :)
I'm sooooooo happy about my purchase that I have to share it with you all. My gun shop was having a one day close out sale as I was getting ready to leave I hit the last stand to my truck and something magnatized my eyes instantly. There it was an antique to some but to me a "BRAND SPANKIN NEW"
Johnny Stewart "Professional Grade" Cassette Caller originally marked $249.00 one day sale price $30.00 !! ;D Needless to say it went home with me. ;D ;D  I have the Phantom caller & hate it,to me
it doesn't sound realistic. But the Johnny Stewart sounds 100% real. So I plan on using this as my caller
for now on. I have a few cassettes to use for now but want to know from those of you who may be possibly using a cassette caller what works good for you ? I live in the North East and want to use
what works for predators up here. If anyone is willing to part or make copies of cassettes or posssibly share
sounds with me that would be GREAT !! I know that Johnny Stewart is stopping the cassette manufacturing
but that doesn't mean that you can't still copy them or even copy CD'S to cassettes for that matter.
I'd be willing to work with someone if willing & honest.

Good luck in your search.  Seems everybody wants to be wireless and remote.  My setup consists of a MP3 player, 2 powered speakers and 150' of headphone extension cables.  I get to try it out for real today  :D

Good find there, I'm picking up the Johnny Stewart Predator 1 and Predator 2 remote callers to start with as far as e callers are concerned.  I have gotten reports from guy's that have had success with both, and provided pictures of their coyotes that they had come in to the calls.  The only thing is the distance between you and the e caller is limited at 50 yards, instead of 100 yards like the more expensive units available like Fox Pro.  If I had deeper pockets, I probably would go for a Fox Pro e caller.

Excellent find. I can remember wanting one of these so bad that I could taste it but it was something that I just could not afford at the time.

The sound was reputed to be very good as you claim. So good that two people I knew way back when (a chemical engineer and the High School principal) had one out in a fence row during a Coyote hunt. The Red\Gray Fox season had gone out so you know what happened...When that Red Fox came in to the caller they sat and watched while it went as far as to stick its snout down the megaphone speaker trying to locate that injured critter!

Hope you have great success.  We have always just used a predator type mouth call for coyotes.  My brother did buy a nice caller, but  then accidentally shot it!

;D ;D ;D....Heard of this happening with a chrony of course but not a caller :o

Did know of a time when there was two locals who were deer hunting together. Turned out that John shot Bob's pickup truck with a 12ga deer slug ;D...been several years so now it can be funny but am glad that I was not anywhere near thier hunting grounds.
