Yet more proof that this what ever you call it is anything but "The religion of peace."
Sister killed for 'bad behaviour'
Amman - A Jordanian man was charged on Monday with premeditated murder after stabbing to death his 30-year-old married sister over her alleged "bad behaviour", police said.
"The suspect, 28, confessed to killing his sister because she repeatedly disappeared from home, claiming she had a bad behaviour, and he wanted to defend his honour," a police spokesperson told AFP.
The crime took place in the Gaza refugee camp in the northern city of Jerash.
"The woman was married but her husband is in jail. She had asked to see her five-year-old son, who lives with her family," said the source.
"Her brother stabbed her to death when she went to see her son."
Murder is punishable by the death penalty in Jordan but in such cases of the so-called "honour killings" a court sometimes commutes or reduces sentences, particularly if the victim's family urges leniency.
In the past, parliament has refused to institute harsher penalties.
Around 15-20 women are murdered each year in Jordan in the name of honour, despite government efforts to fight such crimes. So far this year, 17 cases have been reported.
