;D Why did you let him shoot your deer??????? I have not been to the woods yet so I can not say if they are moving around the Emporia area yet. The buck your buddy got looks like a nice deer. I do hope you get a chance at a nice one soon.

Hey BN.I've been out do a little looky looing. Most of the big bucks are locked down with does here around the Wichita area.I've seen some shooters, but mostly smaller bucks are cruising around.Had a really nice ten out in the field across from the house this afternoon.Had a doe with him. They stayed in the field out in the wide open most of the afternoon.Last time I saw them was around 3:00.This was in a cut bean field.I'm thinking the main rut was about two weeks late for some reason.Hopefully the secondary rut will be starting around opening week of gun season.Good luck.Slow

That's OK, rifle season is just around the corner. I would rather get them with my bow but I guess it's time to get out the canon.

Over here in Southern Indiana, the deer are in serious hiding as well. Our firearms season has been in for a week. Usually by now we have 3 or 4 does gong in the deep freeze. But we are not seeing the numbers of deer we had couple years ago. Have seen some nice ones checked in, just not the number of deer like normal.

 Good luckm, stay safe.

While bird hunting yesterday west of Alma, I kicked up 2 very nice does, and saw 2 more on the way back into town after we finished. The plot of land the I hunt for deer is fairly hard to get to. there are only about 2 ways in with a truck. the first one is where we park are trucks and get ready at, the second requires you to have 33"+ tires on the truck, fairly strong arms and know a lot of people as you have to go through about 12 different gates and pastures to come in from the back side. Dad and I tryed it once, it took use about 4 1/2 hours. Not worth it. Last time I was up at the spot I sit there were tracks and sign of deer everywhere. My great uncle said he has been seeing a few nice 8 pointers recently, so I'm hopeful that I can get my wife and I a couple of nice deer.

A bit late in reply here, but its definitely been a trying year. I usually see upwards of 10 deer a day from my stand.  Occasionally I saw this, but not most of the time.  Shooter bucks are scarce. I saw at least 25 different 1 year old bucks.  Hope they survive.   Big boys  show up on the trail cams at night, and have not given me a chance.  I got mine on opening day (yesterday) of rifle with my bow.  I'm happy and relieved.  I got one of the shooters I was after, and probably only because of all the movement from the next door farm.  Hope everyone has done OK.  Got a friend in Nebraska that tells the same tale.

Got two does the first two days of October:

Well the wind did me in this morning.Saw a few does, but didn't see the big ten I've been waiting on.Had a shot at him Thursday evening, but couldn't close the deal.I know he's still on the property as the farmer said he saw him last night in the back yard of his farm.Came home and across the road was three bucks laying down out in the middle of the cut bean field by the center pivot system.Couldn't be in a safer place.Tried to get a picture of them, but they were too far out.500 or so yards.Looked at them through the spotting scope.A real nice ten point and the other two were broken up.They'll stick around close to here until someone runs them out.Has anyone else done any good yet?Slow

I went out today and enjoyed the mourning, saw three does and about 100 turkeys. The turkeys were close enough to reach out and touch, the does were a little futher say 400 yds. But it was a great day to be out. I do hope some of us do get their deer, I like to see them and read about them. I will be out again in the mourning for another try.
