A friend brought me a 336 with the lever hung up. It was a loose loading gate screw which broke off when I over tighten it. Marlin has another screw on the way. I finally got all (most actually)of the green camo paint off the gun. The stock had been cut down in the past and then put back together poorly. I got most of the misalignment sanded out and a coat of Minwax Satin Tung Oil on it. The receiver had 2 sets of initals etched in it. I cold blued them to make them look less horrible. The forearm has 4 notches carved in one side(4 deer I suspect.) I'm not going to want to give this gun back when I get finished. I'm going to cast a new buttplate out of black epoxy resin to replace the one that's missing.
I'll probably make 20 cents an hour on this one but I learned some stuff.
