20 gauge rifled choke tubes and Buckhammers
« on: December 07, 2009, 04:03:32 PM »
I plan on getting a Carlson rifled choke tube for my 870 20 gauge and would like to know if they work with Remington Buckhammers. Or if Buckhammers shoot OK in a smoothbore barrel?

According to Remington, they are designed for use in fully rifled barrels or rifled choke tubes.

I have the tube you mention and it shoots the reg. Remington sabot slug great . The tube you have shoots foster slugs and sabot slugs well. why waste money ?

I have a 20 gauge USH which is actually a way better tshooter than I expected and I also have a 870 youth with a thick recoil pad on it. I need two slug guns for night hog hunting. The 870 is a great shooter with old style Brenneke's and sluggers (don't care for sluggers on hogs) and at present it has a improved cylinder choke tube in place. My supply of old style Brennekes has dried up and I want to use the same slug in both guns. I want to at least have 100 yards of accuracy. I guess I will order the Carlson rifled tube after I test the Buckhammers in my improved cylinder tube.
