10 1/2 " Ruger

I'm sure this has been covered, but I didn't find it here.  I have a 10 1/2" blue Super Blackhawk 44 Mag that my wife bought for me at a garage sale.  ( Yep, she's a keeper!)  Anyone have any idea how many of these are out there?  I know it's a darn good shooter and has some bluing wear but locks up tight.  Intrested in how many and if they bring a premium but not looking to sell it.  DP

Lots of 'em. Is the front sight a ramp or a scewed on undercut patridge?

  Yup there's a LOT as it's been a regular production model for years and years now.    Typicslly I find the 10 1/2" models will command a lower price than the shorter barrel models.  Just not as in demand as the more easily carried shorter ones.

No clue how many but not rare for sure. The ones I've seen always seem to sell at least $100 less than if the barrel were shorter. Most folks unlike me just don't appreciate that long barrel and long sight radius.

  I have 2 of them, a 44 maggie & a 357 maximum, they are wonderful shooters. They are the only 2 revolvers I own that are scoped, thats because they both are capeable of fine accuracy & great velocity at long range so they are setup for that purpose. Mine are carried in MIke Barranti's shoulder rigs & are easy to pack, not like packing a 4-5 inch gun but still comfortable.

As eluded to in an above post, there are two versions of the blued 10-1/2" Super Blackhawk.  The early guns, made in the late '70's until '86, are basically a common Super Blackhawk with a 10-1/2" tapered barrel. In '86 the "bull barrel" style was adapted and it comes with a "target length" ejector assembly, a screw attached "under-cut" front sight and a narrow notch rear sight.

Both versions were made of stainless steel, as well. The tapered barrel stainless 10-1/2" Super is a rather scarce version with only 2,000 or so being produced.

Yep, mine has the undercut front sight.  I have a shoulder holster for it and it carries fine, and the sights are the about as good as it gets for these old eyes.  Much as I love my shorter barrels for packin, this one is gonna go huntin next year.  Thanks for the answers guys.  DP

Forgot to tell ya'll, my wife got the gun, holster and 180 rounds of factory ammo for $300.00.  Like I said, momma is a KEEPER. :-* ;D ;)  DP
