Encore questions
« on: December 18, 2009, 04:15:27 PM »
Hi,
I looked at a couple used Encores.  I still can't figure out the difference between an Encore and a Contender.  Anyway, the one I want is in 22-250.  The other was a 223 i think.  BOTH had loose stocks.
Why is this? Is it common for the stocks to come loose? Can it be easily remedied - permanently?  Or is this an indication of potential problems?
Anything else I should check for?
Otherwise, they were both quite nice - and substantially less than a new one.
What do you think? Should I go for it?
Thanks!

I used to own a Contender and now I own 3 Encores.  I believe the difference between Encores and Contenders is that the Encore is made quite a lot heavier than the Contender!  Also, the Encore is chambered in rounds that the Contender isn't!
I don't understand the loose stocks!  They should be tight!

Loose stocks should just be a matter of removing the grip cap and snuging up the stock bolt.  Difference between the two(assuming the Contender is a G-2)is primarily size and chambering possibilities.  Best way to see possible chamberings is to go to TCArms.com and click on custom shop and look at chambering list for each.  Walt
