FA 97 Bisley Hammer?
« on: December 05, 2009, 08:52:46 AM »
i don't own a FA97 yet but am planning on it.

my colt and turnbull and old varqero have standard high hammers that destroy a follow-though sight-picture after than hammer drops.

on the other hand, my ruger montado with bisley hammer allows me to retain the sight-picture throughout, a very nice feature.

does the 97 hammer also block the sights when its lowered?

i don't see anywhere among FA's site that they offer a Bisley-style hammer (wider and lower than the standard-style hammer).

is there anyone making such a beast for the 97???

thnx!

Not the best picture quality, but you can see the M97 hammer at rest in relation to the sights.

excellent. although i'm planning on the fixed-sight with optional dovetailed front sight, i can see from those images that even that set up will allow for a continuous sight picture.

many thnx paul!

On my Rugers, old model Vaqueros or even the new Vaquero with the high hammer the sights ar not blocked when the hammer is down, same with the 83s and 97 FAs.

I've heard rumor that somebody has/had an FA hammer at Alan Harton's with plans of having the FA spur removed and the bisley spur welded in it's place.  Or they were discussing it with Alan.

I haven't heard/seen anything about this in some time though.
