Well the woft is a really handy rifle in thick brush and such. If im right, You're from Illinois which means long shots over big open fields.  My choice then would be the Optima Pro.  Better yet, the Accura.

yes in IL alot of open fields but most shots i will attempt are 100 yards. other thing is the local shops sell traditions, CVA wolf, Optima. but no pro or accura could probably order them though.

thanks for the help

The Optima will do just fine then.  I seriously would consider the Accura though! It is a sweet rifle

You can get the blue/black version for around $289.  Sometimes even lower.

if you get the optima elite then you can always get the different barrels for it also.

I shot my optima for the first time today,  HOLY COW!!
Accurate, light recoil, and did I say accurate.

I bought it used from a freind who had less that 15 shots through it.
I used the Hornady 250 gr sst with 100 grains  777 pellets.
It shot 1.5 inch and better groups at 100.

i agree with the guys that say go with the optima or optima elite. i looked at the wolfs and do not mean to pick on the guys that have one or anything but they just did not seem sturdy enough for me i got the kodiak and very happy with it. personally the wolf was not doing it for me. as of for the accura that is a little new for me did not get time to read up on it or anything. looks like a godo concept but not sure to give a thought.

The Wolf is the better value, if all you care about is a good functional .50 cal.  I have a .50 cal Wolf and a .45 cal Optima with a couple of 12ga shotgun barrels too.  Different barrels and fire control group notwithstanding, the Wolf and Elite are nearly the same rifle and they perform nearly the same. but the Optima is more versatile, because a wider selection of ML barrels (including Bergara) have been available for the Optima in the past.  This seems to be changing as anything other than a .50 cal inline is relegated to the high end of the industry's product lines.

The Optima also has a decent ramrod (the Wolf rod was hijacked from holding up a RV trailer curtain) and a better stock for a scope,  However, I just shot an Oregon whitetail with my Optima .45 and I used my Wolf stock on the Optima because it works better for me with Oregon-legal iron sights.    The higher comb on the Optima stock works better with a scope.

I should mention that my Optima is further modified to be Oregon ML season legal.  (I turned and milled a custom percussion cap firing pin and milled a breach plug, firing pin bushing, and port on the side of the barrel to expose the cap to the "weather" and make it visible.)

If I find a little time, I'll post some pics.
