In a certain sense, I do not consider the fading of old war memorials a bad thing.  The distant descendants of the original warriors need to let bygones be bygones.  Even ex-combatants of WW II have become good friends after the fires of war were finally extinguished. 

I think with the passing of the children of the actual combatants, the fading should begin.  There seem to be plenty of current reminders of the horrors of war that old grudges can be resigned to the grave.

The keeping of the cannons as historical items is a different issue.  We need to remember history to remind us that we haven't changed much from our ancestors.

George , I must disagree with you ,however I do respect your right to say anything about wars you want and anything you say deserves considerations as you been there done that . Semper Fi !

BUT I wanted to bring this back up as a topic because it deserves more than it got .

I want those cannons saved !

Cman who do I call and where do I write ?????? Thats an abomination get those things indoors TOMORROW! Or sooner if the weather is good !

No kidding tell me names and addresses of who I should write/call .

Gary, here's the guy, he even got an award for historic preservation-whoever gave him the award sure didn't go look at the cannons!
