How customer service is supposed to be!

I have been having trouble with my Thompson 209X45 and have been VERY unimpressed with their customer service. I bought a Knight woverine 209 in frustration with the 209X45. I noticed there was some blow back with the Knight and decided to call them for some suggestions. The guy I talked with did not try to blame the problem on me and said lets see if we can get it fixed. He gave me some suggestions to try and (on his own) is sending me a heavy spring and a breech plug. He said if this didn't take care of it, to call back and we would find the problem or I could send the gun in. Now guys, I call this CUSTOMER SERVICE. I also had a small problem with a Knight about 5 years and was treated great then to. I will be getting rid of my Thompson encore with extra barrel and buying a new Knight rifle because I KNOW, if I have a problem, I won't be jerked around like Thompson has. Don

I don't know of any Knight Rifle forums off hand but will let you know if i find any. Hope it does well for you. :D

I dont know anything much about Knight muzzleloaders but have been very happy with my Thompson products and service.  I wonder how many thousands of frames and barrels that they have put out.  But poor service is still poor service . . . even if it seems to be just occaisionally.  I suppose if I had gone thru your experience I would be somewhat hot also.  Good luck with the Knight.  Interesting though that they seem to have problems too.

cnight98, I couldn't agree more. I had a stainless frame and a 209X50 and it shot great. I didn't want to pay 190.00 to have it dipped as I was going to buy a 12 gauge for turkeys so I sold it and bought the blued gun. I couldn't get the 209X50 at the time. The stainless frame IMO was smoother also. I have a 7MM-08 barrel and it shoots ok. Like most on here, mine tends to climb with a clean barrel and calms down after it gets fouled.

TnEncore, the forum for black powder rifles here is very good :D .

longwinters, I got the impression from Thompson that they didn't make a bad barrel even though they told me there was 50 infront of mine. They also didn't seem to care if I had to wait 5 weeks to get them to check my barrel. I did talk to one guy that was very nice but the woman and one other guy in repair didn't give me that warm and fuzzy fealing :shock: .

My experience with Thompson Center customer sevice has not been good.  Bought a TC factory  26" .223 stainless steel bull barrel that I could not get to shoot.  Tried several bullet types (Hornady V-Max, Sierra match, Speer) over several different powders (A2230, Hodgdon's BLC2), eventually firing over 300 rounds in an attempt to shoot a sub 1-inch group.  Nothing worked consistently.  I sent the barrel back.  They returned it a few weeks later; stating that the barrel shoots groups of "about" 1 inch.  

Not good enough.  I didn't buy a barrel of this type to shoot "about" an inch.  I will never buy another Thompson Center barrel.
