Lapua 144gr FMJ
« on: October 20, 2003, 02:27:37 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has noticed a compromise in accuracy when using these bullets compared to the Lapua Scenars or the Sierra Matchkings?

Is the 144 FMJ substantially harder than the above mentioned bullets?  I have only shot the Scenars and wanted to try some 144 FMJs.

Haven't tried any 139 but some Moly 144 loads with N160 powder. Best what I'm found so far is 0.75 MOA (1.7") to 200 meters in my Tikka Hunter Deluxe. The load was not very hot but above Vihtavuori reloading manual maximum load.

The lands are so far in CIP standard 6.5x55SE chamber. What cartridge overall length are you using in Sako and Tikka factory rifles?

Does not look promising

I picked up 200 144 FMJs and briefly tried them in my 6.5 TKS.  The initial results are less than promising.  I am going to try them again when the weather is more representative of the weather I would be shooting in.  Too cold up here right now.  We got a huge snow storm through the night and most of today.

The Scenars shoot very well in my Standard.  I am working on a new Hunter this winter.
