33 wcf ammo
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:16:30 PM »
I ended up with great-grandpa's old marlin 1895 in 33 wcf, my grandpa gave it to me, i also got a box of necked down 45-70 hand loads with it. i did a little searching on the net, but couldn't find any new factory ammo. this gun has be in the family a long time, so i've kept my eyes open for ammo. i swear cabela's was offering obsolete ammo, brand new for 33 wcf and several others, within the last five years. but now i cant find it. i wish i would have bought 100 rnds or so, but i didn't really know i was going to end up with it. i don't plan on dragging the gun thru the brush next fall, but it would be nice to be able to shoot it. i don't hand load. any ideas? hopefully without having to find someone to hand load it for me.

Reloading isn't that difficult.  You can get a Lee Press and be reloading for a little over $100.  Thats what got me into reloading.  I bought an obsolete caliber.

  Wow! ;
   I'm an old man and never knew anybody that ever had one of these. If you can afford it you ought to stock up on brass & bullets. From what it looks like, some brass can be formed from 45/70 brass, perhaps a reforming die may be a good idea...if anyone makes one.
