Scope Rings ??
« on: December 19, 2009, 08:10:54 AM »
I think I have decided to put a Leupold VX3 Silver - 4.5-14x50 on my Encore SS Bergara 30/06 barrel.
I can get it $200.00 cheaper than the Zeiss 3.5-10x50.

What I need to know is:
I have a one piece weaver style silver base and need to know exactly what rings I need to mount the scope with OR do I need no base and rings that will mount to the barrel ??

Does anyone have this set-up and can give me the correct items I need.

Thanks, CLewis

Not certain I understand your question, but if you have a Weaver style base, it is slotted and you need a set of rings made to grip the base and seat in the slots.  The Redfield-Leupold style of dovetail bases require a different type of ring, and visa versa.  I expect Leupold makes rings for both types.

A good reference can be found at the Bear Basin website.  SWAFA my also have a base chart as well.

I have scopes mounted with both styles and I can't see a benefit to either type over the other.  Both styles of rings and bases work very well.  There are several other types of mounts as well.

If I haven't answered your question, PM me or just send us back your question.
