.223 ejector out too far?

223 bull barrel. Factory fit, The ejector comes out so far that the cartidge can go over the top of it and into the chamber.
I have to partially close the breech to push it forward into proper position.
I found the photos and conversion info in the faq's but not this trouble,,
What's the fix gent's,,thank's in advance

Did you removed the ejector parts and check to see they're all there? If the lifter button or lifter spring are missing or broken, it won't work right. Check out the pics of the ejector parts in the FAQs to make sure they're all in place, that includes the rear roll pin which limits travel how far out the ejector travels.

It is normal with some ejectors, when the ejector is out against the stop it pulls the rear of the ejector down.  There is a bevel on the ejector so that it will jump the rim and work properly when you close it.  You could put a longer lifter button or stiffer lifter spring in the lug if it bothers you.  Larry

This is an old thread but I never got back to it.
 Finally got tired of chasin brass, and decided to do the grinding/fileing to make it an extractor. Well when I knocked out the pins I found the lifter pin was in there upside down! Yes, I got the gun second hand.
 Everything works great now, The ejector spring looked like a corkscrew, so I put a #6 machine head screw in there to tighten it up and help keep it straight like Tim said,,thanks again for being here guy's  ;D

I just got a used 223bull ejector off the classifieds and it has the same thing going on guess I get to tinker. Kurt

well I changed 3 things doing the job so i can't say what it was, but the upsidedown botton was a hint. It' did it a few times after (not chronic) so I put some graphite powder in there and now it works,,sometimes the ejetor comes out and leaves the case in there (I'm neck sizing only) but I just close and open and it comes out the second time, I can deal with that. I'm guessing time for a new botton spring but it's low on the list right now.
