Solution for crooked H&R scope rails.
« on: December 20, 2009, 01:40:21 PM »
This may be old news to some, but today I found Weaver brand weaver scope rings which are windage adjustable.  Price was good, $15.00 or so.  They look stronger than the Millets, and could be a good alternative to the Burris offset bushing fixes.  If I had needed one I would have bought it, they came in low medium and high, and the store had all three.  Larry

I found some more specs on em, the medium are only .180" tall, so they're closer to other lows than most mediums.

I also have several sets of the Millet Angle Loc sets that I really like but I would be willing to try those adjustable Weavers for $15.It looks from what Quick said that I should get the high Weavers, they would probably be close to the medium height Millets and others....<><....:)

I've used the windage adjustable Milletts on two handis now and they work great, all steel and seem pretty tough for about $25 a set.  Their rings seem to be just the opposite of the Weaver rings, they are a little higher than most.  I used their low rings to mount Nikon scopes on both rifles.

How do the windage adjustable mounts work?  Looking at the picture, I can't figure it out.

My solution was to just use iron sights. That old .30-30 with mannlicher fore end that came to me after my best friend (Billy Doss) died might have come from the factory untapped as the holes sure looked like a shade tree smith had drilled and tapped them prior to the rifle to him. Not even Burris Signature rings and maximum offset would bring it on POA so the rail came off and a rear iron sight went on and now it works fine and is minute of praired dog to around 150 yards. Problem solved.
