First deer with my .45 acp encore pistol!!!

I got my first deer today with my .45 acp encore pistol!!! I load it to about 1100 fps with a 230gr. xtp using .45 super data!!! This small doe was about 75 yards away eating in a bean field when I shot her!!! She went about 30 yards and down she went!!!! This barrel is super accurate, about 2" at 100 yards. Thats with me shooting off a rest. I'm not all that steady with a handgun!!! But, I'm pretty happy with it's performance!!! It is such a pleasure to shoot, without all the blast like my .44, (which I had on my side too)!!!

Nice score.  That sure looks like a long barrel.  Is it a factory T/C barrel?

Very nice.  Pistol hunting is a great sport. The 45 ACP is under rated for big game.

Thanks!!! Yes, it is a factory tc 15" barrel!!! It is a bit long. That is the only length midway had. I was wanting a 12". But it works!!!

I've been using the .50 cal. muzzleloader barrel most of the season and decided to use the .45 acp. again today. Well I got another one!!!

Nice pistol and shootin, Did you get a pass through? or did the bullet stay inside, did you get any expansion? Sorry about the questions but inquiring minds wanna know.  ;)

The first shot it was quartering real hard and I missed my mark a bit at about 75 yards. I hit it in the right hind quarter shattering the bone and the bullet traveled through the body and broke ribs behind the left front shoulder and was under the skin. It dropped and got back up. So I shot it again broadside through both shoulders and that one went clear through and down she went. This is a pic of the first bullet. It is a montana gold 230gr. HP.

Nice, thanks for the reply, I love that cartridge! Thinking of getting a 6 inch barrel for my Glock 21 and using it for close shots outa the stand!

It'll do the job. I don't use factory spec. ammo...I've been using .45 super data to load for this gun. 1100 fps with a 230gr. bullet. NOT the thing to shoot in my stock 1911. Factory ammo will still do the job if you do your part!!! Good luck!!!!!!
