ROSSI 50. CAL
« on: March 11, 2009, 01:58:38 AM »
some personel info on the ROSSI muzzleloader ..i have used it in hunting situations for deer ,short barrel, and very accurate to 100yds. mine liked the DEAD CENTERS in .300 gr. with 2 T7 pellets ,any 209 primer will do.try different sabots and make sure that it goes down tight down the barrel [if too loose accuracy will be horrible] word of caution do not tighten down the breech plug with the hand tool ,finger tighten only, don't worry the breech plug can't back out with a "break open action " also keep the outside of the barrel well oiled ,they rust very easy...below is a pic of a buck that i nailed at 50 yds. with the ROSSI

fast is good - precision is everything

T/C ENCORE STAINLESS .50 CAL.

I Read thier instruction manual for the muzzle loaders and it specifies the use of pellets and copper sabots, what's that all about? they mention the use of soild bullets such as conicals, could possibly cause the barrel to explode?never heard of such a thing.why in the world can't loose powder be used alonf with a conical? this makes me very leary of thier product.

'cause somebody's gonna put 150 grains of loose powder behind a 400 grain conical bullet (or already did).

Probably something fairly simple......like they haven't tested the gun with loose powder and big solid projectiles yet, so they are covering their hind ends by not recommending them.

Well if i buy one of the youth .50 cal models i most certainly won't be shooting 150 gr of anything lol.want it for the wife and would either be shooting 250- 300 gr sabots or a buffalo  270 ball-et with 75-85 gr 777 powder.so you feel thier covering thier backsides? that is what i figured. i see no problem with the loose powder or even a conical.hell i shoot 460 gr no excuse conical out of my T/C triumph with 90 gr loose 777 with no problems and it's accurate as all get out and when i shoot sabots in it i use 100gr 777 behind a 325 gr SSB.thanks guys for your input!

Great to hear, what kind of accuracy are you getting out to 100yds?and is the rifle reliable? thier mini loader would have the exact LOP to fit the wife.that's the reason i am looking at the rossi.
