PM's
« on: December 21, 2009, 07:36:00 AM »
I hope this is the right place. Here goes. People send PM's and give no information what the pm is in reference too, they reply to something and the person recieving the PM hasn't the slightest idea what it is about? I am sure the person sending knows but nobody else does. I have recieved PM's such as SEND? Send what? Or a PM refering to something the person recieving has no idea what it pertains to. Another example when some one has several items FS the person sends a PM stating he will take it? TAKE WHAT. I get so flustrated especaillt when it is some thing that requires a first to say they will take it. Then you sell it to someone else and then they become all bent out of shape. I wish there was some sort of standard where people are reguired to say what the PM is for. In the future I am just going to delete it. If a person can't type just a few lines so the recieving person doesn't have to be a mind reader. Lou

That's always been a pet peeve of mine, members not completing the message by adding the subject  :-\, maybe Matt can make it a requirement with a software modification.

quickdtoo do we have a pet peeve or place to bitch becaust this along with others like after I state "I will not split it up"  "I GOT DIBS IF YUO WANT TO SPLIT IT UP" How childish and wastes space on this site. And not only on the pm's but they send e-mails and do the same and a few of us go to several forums cus we don't have anything else to do. Thanks I feel better now that I have wasted space on this forum.

It would be nice if people had some info other than PM sent. Alot of time that is the last thing posted on the thread and nobody knows what happened. :-\
A little more info. might help others get an idea of the kinds of trades, prices, etc. that it takes to close a deal. It would really help newbies to the classifieds.

If a seller only has 1 item listed then it shouldn't be a problem.
If a seller has more than 1 item then it can get messy trying to figure out what they are referring to in the PM if they don't give a good description of the item referred to.

As far as asking for first chance if a seller splits something up.
I know several items that wouldn't sell all together but went quick when they were split.
I have bought a few things that way.
I really don't see anything wrong with that.
No harm in asking.

A good poster will reply in the thread after a PM was sent as to the status of the item, either sold or still for sale.
Not all do this.

Just my feelings on this subject.

What about the one where you are looking for something you get a reply or pm saying I have one will see what I wont for it and will get back to you and never does. You would think if a person has something to sell they would know what they wont or are they just playing games with you. Most of these have no trades. I have had some of these and when I contact them no response. If a person has what I am looking for give me a price and I will say yes or no and if yes will get payment right out. That seems fair to me, this is a nice place to buy or sell our stuff and Bill provides us a great service. There I feel better :) :)

I consider some of the PMs as trash/spam mail and use the delete. If someone is serious they are usually direct in their PMs and replys and don't beat around the bush ,anything less is trash mail. The vulthures that circle my ads and low ball I just ignore until they get serious.

On the other hand some of the package deals are beyond the reach of some and others have items of interest but the package deal is to much stuff. I usually price a package deal by item but add a package price if they want it all.

deacon. they are not real offers with out a price just seing what their stuff is worth, I figure they are not serious, again trash/spam.

Thing I hate worst is someone highjacking a post.

Not necessarily. I have many things laying around I have no real need for that I might never list but when I see someone wanting it and think about it I might mention it and say let me round it up then figure a price I'd take. I will get back with you with that price or say I wasn't able to find it tho. Heck some of my stuff is put away for "safe keeping" and it takes me months and dozens of searches to locate. I think I looked at least 20 times before finding some .300 Savage brass Bubba wanted to buy from me on just such a deal as this. I did finally locate it and sold it to him and it was so much in the open and in front of my face I still don't see how it took me so many times to find it. Had I charged by the hour for my search time he could have bought gold cheaper.  :o ;D He was patient tho and eventually got a heck of a deal.

This is kinda off topic for here I think so I'm gonna move it to the Pot Bellied Stove forum as it's more of a general gripe not specifically related to this forum as opposed to all classifieds forums. I will be nice and leave a shadow for a short while something I seldom do when moving threads to a more proper place.
