HSM 45/70 Ammo
« on: February 28, 2012, 10:43:19 AM »
Has anyone tried the HSM ammo? I just ordered some 400 gr Speer loads at a really good price and would appreciate any feedback from anyone with experience with this load.

Was unaware till I saw your post about this new .45/70 fodder!

Thought HSM still only offered .38 and .223 reloads::)   8)

It will indeed be good to read what others say about the new ammo.

ADDED:  Looked on MidwayUSA and they don't list it yet.

The Hunting Shack has it at a very good price. There webpage is a little slow to navigate, but it's worth the effort.
Several nice looking loads including a 350 gr Swift A Frame that looks really nice, but the 400 gr Speers price was great.

Can't wait to put it on the range and see what it will do.

Good luck.

Ammo arrived late yesterday. Very nice looking and uniform loads. My Marlin is off for a recoil pad and trigger work.
Will try a couple of rounds through my TC Encore Katadin this afternoon, then wait for the 1895 to come home before making a range trip.

If accuracy if acceptable I'll be happy. I jumped the gun and ordered 100 rds. because of the price, but I'm pretty confident they will be good whitetail medicine here in VA.

I'll update report after the range trip.
