I am going to buy my lil one a youth handi rifle of his own, so he doesnt have to use brother and sisters. haha.

Anyway, he is crazy about blue and I was wondering if anyone had used the blue stains on a palletwood stock.......

Guess I should send an email to Gunstock inc about a blue laminate monte carlo youth stock too...

It will work fine .You have to get all the old finish off the stock to look it's best. Paste stripper Like stripeze works good .Follow the info on the stripper can. Good luck,   26-t

What 26-t said.
Just rub it down after it dries from stripping, with a white scrubbie to settle the grain.

FWIW, I don't like Minwax...period. I also don't know any professionals that use it.
My favorite is Fiebings Leather Dye. It doesn't have any varnish in it and gets in the wood, not on it. Then the finish of your choice.

That Minwax takes a little time to dry, it really is a great outdoor weather protectant, I've used it on alot of my camp gear,
easy ta use.

You should get better results if you use a wood dye rather than a stain.

Look at some of the good woodworkers sites and you'll find some choices.

Pictures!  We want to see pics when you're done.

Good luck,

Mike

I did a 10/22 stock with green Rit dye & alcohol. Finished it off with a few coats of Formby's then polyurethane. It turned out pretty well. If you go to rimfirecentral.com & look in the 10/22 stocks forum, those guys do alot of odd things.
