One more CHRISTmas dog
« on: December 26, 2009, 07:41:37 AM »
Getting ready to head off to work last night and my son said there was another yote that showed up at the "meatsickle". I was to busy so he grabbed the T3 lite and sent another "gift wrapped" 35 gr berger with a nice resounding "smack". Another "merry CHRISTmas" dog off of the "meatsickle"

:D Nice job.. A couple days before Christmas, my pal and I spent the morning hunting coyotes...this country is called to death.. In addition to the local callers they have at least two calling contests in the area   in Nov.  So they are pretty call shy for a time... Anyway just before the storm hit, we glass most of the country we could get to west of here.  My pal got a couple shots, but no luck, they were pretty long...but we saw 16 coyotes that morning...the last two times I was out I only saw one....this am I went up the creek where I often hunt... spotted one about 350 yards watching some antelope, they were watching him also, that was the tipoff. Any way getting into position, he spotted me and began trotting off...My second shot took him in the neck for a good coyote...Later on the way home, I spotted one in a huge pasture...Years ago I shot one across that pasture with a .22-250. Later we lazered it at 638 yards... this fellow was beyond that sleeping in the sun...When I got into position, he got up and started trotting off,  everytime he would stop, I would just get centered and he would walk again.  Finally, I did get him to stop when he came to a bank he wanted to check the draw out...I put the 700 yard dot just on his back, and shot just over his back...His lucky day..til we meet again...

Congrats to your boy.  That copper wrapping paper sure gets the presents out there, doesn't it?  :)

;) bv, I have an old Leupold 12x that I had an outfit called Premier Dot Ret. put the dots in years ago...It is a great deal for long shots, but if I were doing it again I would take it clear out to 1000 yards, but for most shooting 500 to 600 seems to work ok...My best friend here in town has a son that is wild about long range shooting...He is 26 and already shot out a 7 mag. shooting at game, varmits, rocks, jugs, stumps, etc... He had dots put in his scope I think by TK Lee....It seems Premier is working now on govt. contracts and doesn't do work for athe average guy... anything else, just let me know....These dots are great if you have a load you know you will shoot. Plus there is more over lap than folks my first realize......
