Raging bull and scopes
« on: December 25, 2009, 07:05:23 PM »
I have a RB in 45 colt, 6". I am wanting to put a scope on it, do I need to be aware of anything before I put a scope on it. Like blast from the ports messing things up? Particular mounts???
I have never put a scope on a pistol before, now the eyes just aren't what they used to be, and the shoulder ain't up to the rifles I shoot either, Arther seems to be talking more and louder too. LOL

If you get any part of the scope over the ports it will get covered with crud. Keep it back or at least get the bell not lens over the ports.

I think I have a scope base or two for the RB laying around if you have trouble locating one.

Bill, Thanks for the reply, and the offer. Is this the Taurus base or someone elses?
Right now I am laid off till whenever, or I find a new job. Merry Christmas to me. LOL
So I am just trying to get ideas together for now, and seeing what is out there. And what I need.
 Thanks, John

I use a factory Taurus scope mount and some weaver style rings. They work just fine. Make sure you get tall enough rings to clear the scope above the rear sight and for thumb/hammer clearance.  I believe I use extra high rings, but med or high might work . It all depends on your scope.
