Encore Breach Plug Question
« on: December 24, 2009, 03:57:03 AM »
I use to know the answer to this question, when I was heavy into shooing my Encore Muzzleloader. I know Encore made 3 different breach plug designs. Which one worked best with loose power etc.. there is the one with the flat face, one with a slight impression and one with a deep impression.

Been shooting the smokeless Savage for the past 3 years and kind of put my Encore on the back burner.

I prefer the one with the deeper concave depression for loose powder.... Second one on the left

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Good, that is the one I have and I am going to try the Blackhorn 209 in it.

Good it works for me.  I will tell you I have had a problem shooting FED 209A and CCI 209M with it in a Omega.  Both of these give me an occasional hang fire.  Those are the most recommended primer to use.

The primer that works best for me is the Cheddite - I reload for trap shooting and have 1000's of these so I am happy about that.

BH - expensive stuff for 10 oz's - but it sure has it's up side.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

I have Winchester and Federal 209 Primers. I just bought the Remington STS to try out also with the Blackhorn 209
