Noob with Fore End Question
« on: December 27, 2009, 10:11:44 AM »
Hello:

Been lurking for quite a while, reading FAQ and old posts.  Still gotta a question though.

Have a synthetic .223 (SB2-S23) and am going to get a 45/70 (457) barrel for it.  The info on the Barrel Accessory Program site says I need to send the fore end back.

I assume it's to make sure it fits correctly with the new barrel on my old reciever?  If they fool with the forearm to fit it then it likely won't fit the 223 any longer?

Not sure what I need to worry about here or if nothing at all.  Should I get another fore end for the 45/70 barrel? Any idea of the cost, can't seem to find it on the website.

Great forum here, Thanks!
Steve

I would just have them instal a new forend, add it to your order. You will probably want a dedicated forend for anyways. You may need to check the  FAQ for prices. Or try calling them. Some one here should be able to tell you. I was just on the site and did not see the prices.

Prices are on the retail parts page in the FAQs, the list itself is a 2007 price list, but prices aren't far off, I think the old style syn forend is $17.50, part# FS02209.

yep, the forend fitment  is critical for good barrel fit and lock up. get a new forend when you get the 45-70 barrel.
