Question about a Lyman 358430 mold.
« on: December 06, 2009, 01:09:29 PM »
I just picked up a Lyman 358430 mold at a gun show today.  I know that this mold was made in 150 grain version and a 195 grain version. It is definitely bigger than a 150 and is smaller than my 358315 which drops a 204 grain bullet.  I believe the mold I have is somewhere in between. I'm hoping it will drop a bullet of about 180 grains.   Does anybody know what other weights this mold was made in.  It will be some time before I am able to use this mold, so I'm curious as to what this mold will drop. Thanks for any help.  Dale

it will probably drop a bullet between 190 and 200 grains depending on the alloy.

Well I got to try the mold yesterday and it is the 195 grain model.  I was casting pure wheel weights and the bullets are running from 197 to 200 grains with most being 197 or 198.  I was hoping for some thing a bit lighter, but I'll give them a tray in my 357 Handi and see what happens.  Dale
