1972 16 gauge 870 Wingmaster
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:54:38 PM »
I just put a 870 wingmaster 16 gauge on hold at my local gun shop that needs a new buttstock.  Will a stock off a 12 gauge 870 fit it or is the 16 gauge different.  Just wondering because I am going to a couple gun shows this month and need to know what to look for.

Not 100% sure but am almost sure it should work. To my knowledge they used the 12 ga receiver on all the 16s.

What he said. 12 Gauge frame...kinda the downfall of the 16 gauge.  :-\
The early 870's had light barrels, so they still felt good. I've got a 60's 1100 that feels nice, but a little hefty. Shoots nice.

I couldn't complain about the price of the gun.  Asking $60 for it.  The barrel and stock have both been shortened (probably a homemade home defense gun).  Not too worried about the barrel at the moment.  Just happy to have found a 16 gauge at a decent price so I don't have to use my grandfathers old SxS.
