I have an NEF 17 HMR. Never really been into the barrel break in. Can i just pull a dry bore snake through it after each shot and then clean the heck out of it when i get home?

Clean it good before you shoot it the first time to get all the metal and machining waste out, then leave it alone until your groups start to enlarge. One of my HMRs has hundreds and hundreds of rounds down the pipe and still hasn't needed cleaning.

Break in is over stated in most centerfire barrels and I think un-needed in rimfires. Just shoot it!.

Thanks Keith. That was my thoughts also. Already did the pre cleaning. All i need now is some warm weather to try it out. Looks like that will be next spring.
