OK, I'll jump in (since Ernie hooked me).
Besides the 307 Win case, these Bower's can also be made from 356 Win brass full length and 444 Marlin trimmed to length.
I've shot several of the Bower creation's in years past, really liked the 30 Alaskan, but the one I "landed" on was the 6.5 Super Bower for an all-around, do anything choice. Some really great bullets are available for it and it shoots with extreme precision for a very long ways. I'm on the lucky side in that I obtained what was one of Don's personal test barrels (supposedly Fred made the barrel and Don chambered it) - a 15" Bullberry that is not a rechamber. It'll handle everything from 85-140 grain pills, and in great style.
So you can compare it to the 7X30 Waters 120's-130's (also a great cartridge BTW)... with 120's, it will deliver up to just over 2700 fps with about 1770 fpe (depending on powder used); and with 129's about 2580 fps and near 1860 fpe.
Everything from varmints to elk can be taken with the 6.5SB (I wanted it for log range Pronghorns), and it is also what I use for the long range fun matches at the gun club (it holds its own against the bench rifles quite well considering the optics difference). So far my list of powders that it likes numbers around 18, but there are probably more to be found.
Hope this is of some help. Naturally, the best source of info to help you decide is to talk to Don himself. He's a gruff old bird that could talk the ear off a cornstalk at 1000 yards, but is a good guy who has done the work - and so knows.
Best of luck however you go,
Ladobe :bye:
Here's a picture of it set up as a backup for predator calling - for when they hold up and won't come into range for the primary (17's or 22's) - Pachy's and a SGM 2-7 in steel Warne rings on a steel VV base).
