U.S. Widens Terror War to Yemen
Text size
ERIC SCHMITT and ROBERT F. WORTH
The New York Times
December 28, 2009

WASHINGTON — In the midst of two unfinished major wars, the United States has quietly opened a third, largely covert front against Al Qaeda in Yemen.
A year ago, the Central Intelligence Agency sent several of its top field operatives with counterterrorism experience to the country, according a former top agency official. At the same time, some of the most secretive Special Operations commandos have begun training Yemeni security forces in counterterrorism tactics, senior military officers said.
The Pentagon is spending more than $70 million over the next 18 months, and using teams of Special Forces, to train and equip Yemeni military, Interior Ministry and coast guard forces, more than doubling previous military aid levels.

There was an even smaller one in there before Yemen along the Somali-Ethiopian region in the Ogaden where Al Qaeda had alot of control. We used SpecOps and Ethiopian troops for that. Built up our base in Djibouti to where we have real force projection over the Red Sea, Horn, Indian Ocean, LowerArab Peninsula. This is just since 2003.

Though taken from established manufacturers' sources and presumed to be safe please do not use any load that I have posted. Please reference Hogdon, Lyman, Speer and others as a source of data for your own use.

As I recall the entire viet nam was suppose to be floating on oil when we were fighting there. Who knows if there is oil under yemen. In my humble opinion all our troops should be brought home with the understanding that one more terrorism attack will result in the entire country of origin will be bombed into a parking lot.  Your fault, My fault , nobody's fault, the results will be the same.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

that news release is nothing more than a "COVER YOUR %$%" bulletin trying to make it look like Obama is on top of it. The fact is he has ignored Yemen and wanted nothing to do with it. Now he is most likely forced into dealing with it. He is an idiot.
