TC question for the Handi guys.
« on: December 29, 2009, 02:45:23 PM »
Is the Contender frame like an SB1 and the Encore frame like an SB2?
This is an honest question... I have no knowledge of TC's and am asking how they compare directly to the 2 H&R frames.

Sort of. The Contender frames are plenty strong so I guess they would be an SB1+P.
The real difference is in the trigger. The Contenders have a spectacular adjustable trigger, the Encores have a trigger like a rusty #2 jump trap.

My Contender trigger is 8 ounces or less, and as stated fully adjustable with a very small allen screw.
I have a second generation frame.
The older frames are much desired. The G2 frame is stronger, but no adjustable trigger.

That's certainly a way to look at it. More accurately, the contender is more like a SB2 and the Encore is like a SB2MAG.

The contender also in its earliest model, (that if not converted) should only be used with lower pressure chamberings, like the SB1. The current offerings will fire almost everything the SB2 can AND has a dual firing pin that can switch between rimfire and centerfire. The Encore is a centerfire/black powder only.

CW,
Encore is no longer a centerfire/black powder only gun.  They offer rimfire.  Check out the link to the TC website.
