What causes a stiff release lever?

That requires thumb pressure above and beyond the norm. Stiff when action is open, loose when action is closed. Searched the FAQ.

The spring that holds the latch button up when its open, is holding the latch itself closed against the barrel shelf, when the barrel is closed.

Maybe the latch engagement just needs to smooth up with some use, you can apply a mild abrasive like flitz to the shelf and work the release lever to lap the shelf a little. If it's after a round is fired only, too hot of load will cause it on high pressure chamberings.

SO, I'm curious, have you had a chance to check into our suggestions? What have you found?
