Muzzle Break/Porting on a 12 ga Slug Barrell
« on: December 30, 2009, 03:37:30 PM »
Has anyone one ever had a HR 12 gauge sluge barrel ported or had a muzzle break on it? I have an Ultra Light 12 ga from Gander Mt I was considering doing to. Does it have a noticeable effect?

I have never had a muzzlebreak myself. I have researched several of them and depending on the make, it can have a significant effect on recoil.  Email me for more details. ;)

Thanks, Dinny

I have an H&R topper deluxe slug that is basically a tracker2 with a topper stock and factory porting. I'd say the felt recoil is about a third less than my traCKER 2.

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

I know its not an H&R, but I have a ported Rossi 12ga slug gun. It is much louder than my brother-in-law's 12ga USH, you really want hearing protection, just one shot w/o makes my ears ring. It also kicks like a mule because it is so light. I have lost zero on both shotgun scopes that have been on it, due to recoil. I can shoot the USH prone just fine.
