I dont know about the damage part....but you wont get good accuracy. As a smith, the most common accuracy problem with shotguns i see are warped barrels,or wrong ammo for the barrel.

I would use only sabot slugs in a rifled barrel unless you don't mind getting a lead lined barrel. Just my opinion.

It will not hurt the barrel.  You can use them but you will need to clean it real good before you try and shoot sabots out of it.

Accuracy will fall off some where between 5 and 10 shots as the barrel leads up. So if you don't mind giving the barrel a vigorous cleaning often then go a head and try them.

Buy you a bore snake and every three shot group give it a run down the barrell. They have never hurt my USH or my groups.
Deer hunting is mostly fun then you shoot one and it turns to work.

Do barrels get fouled up with plastic when shooting sabots?

In my opinion they don't foul with plastic sabots any worse than my trap guns do with the plastic wads. And thats easy cleaning anyway. In rifled barrels I shoot sabots because I hate cleaning lead out of a rifled barrel from the cheaper slugs.I have shot plenty of the winchester bulk pack slugs over the years and they do shoot well I just got lazy and I do like how sst's and accu-tips shoot in my gun.But yes you can shoot them just follow the in between cleaning advice from above or you find accuracy dipping and more work when you get home.

Don't be afraid to try them, they might be quite accurate, but as others have said be prepared to do more cleaning. I never found them to lead up a barrel as fast as some suggest, but it wasn't a USH.
