Laser range finders

Am looking at the Nikon & Bushnell 800 yard compacts. Has anybody used these? Are you able to get a return off a prairie dog mound? If so, how far out will they work?

Any info on other laser range finders more than welcome as well.

Have the BYP 1000, and have had 400 and 600 models as well.   They do a great job for almost all range work, but only in isolated cases will they reliably get a god reading off just a mound.   Only one I've seen that does read them fairly well is the Leica.   FWIW
