Rossi 22-250

bought one and am looking to reload for it soon and get to the range. with what the website says and the manufacturer it has a 1 in 10 twist. With that twist I should be able to stabalize the heavier bullets.Looking at potentialy using it for deer under 150 yards if that is the case. Anyone have any experience with the gun and reloading for deer?

I haven't shot any deer with my 22-250 yet but I have shot them with my 223... I used 55gr. factory Remington sp ammo and it worked perfectly. I shot him right behind the shoulder at about 60 yds. and it destroyed the lungs. deer went about 20yds. and piled up. I plan on using my 22-250 some this year for deer too and will be using the 55gr sp ammo in it. I have alot of faith in 22's for deer with proper shot placement.
Good luck with yours and don't mind the flack you'll get on here about using a 22 on deer. Alot of guys haven't realized yet that deer ain't bulletproof.

Thanks for the info spanky. i just got my rem brass, dies and winchester 64 grain power points to get me started. As you mentioned I am also going to do a bit of deer hunting with my 250 this season. I am a die hard archery hunter who understands the patience of waiting for the rite shot. I am confident that with the correct shot opportunity I will be successful with the 250. I cant see the 64 grain bullet performing any worse then a broadhead with no where near as much energy. They might not just flop like they were hit with a 300 mag but the pin point accuracy will make up for that in my opinion.

you might be surprised how fast they'll drop with a good shot. I shot one with my little 22 hornet with 46gr hollowpoint... right behind the shoulder... bang flop right in his tracks... from a body shot no less. I opened him up and the inside of the chest cavity looked like a grenade went off. If I hadn't done it... I wouldn't believe it. I've shot 'em with my 35 whelen and not had 'em go down like that.

spanky are you reloading and if so what powder are you using. I was going to buy some varget but while at cabelas tday and older gentelman had told me he is using h4350 with great results. If that is the case it would be great because that is what I use for my .243 and .270 so to be able to use one powder for all three would be a bonus.
